Access Broadband Cymru – What is it?
The Welsh Government’s Access Broadband Cymru Scheme means that all homes and businesses across Wales, that cannot currently receive superfast connections, are now eligible to apply for support. Access Broadband Cymru is a government broadband scheme that provides funding to homes and businesses that are wanting to improve their broadband speeds.
How can FreeClix help?
FreeClix is a registered broadband provider on the Access Broadband Cymru Scheme. Superfast Cymru – Am I eligible?
The scheme is open to individuals, businesses and third sector premises in Wales where the broadband service (if available) cannot deliver a step change in service provision of at least twice the current download speed. The proposed new service must ensure a minimum download speed of at least 10Mbps. A connection resulting in a download speed of lower than 10Mbps is not be supported by the scheme.

How much is it?
You could be eligible to to receive a government subsidy to cover the complete hardware cost, installation cost and set-up fee. It’s as easy as ABC.
The scheme offers a two tier grant that provides support towards the cost of hardware, installation and set-up for a broadband connection that results in a download speed step change.
The amount of funding you can receive depends on the speed of the new connection. Faster broadband gets additional funding:
- £400 for 10Mbps and above
- £800 for 30Mbps and above
How do I get superfast broadband?
How to Get Superfast Broadband in Wales
- Simply fill in the form to receive a free FreeClix quote. The first step to a superfast connection is to contact your registered supplier.
- Accept the quote.
When you accept the quote you can fill in the Access Broadband Cymru application form which can be downloaded here. - Send the quote along with your application form to Welsh Government for approval. Completed application forms should be sent to this email address: broadband@wales.gsi.gov.uk.
- Once approved, you will receive an offer letter from the Welsh Government.

How has the Access Broadband Cymru Scheme helped business and home owners?
77,000 premises in Wales are able to apply for the Access Broadband Cymru grant. There have been 1,702 Access Broadband Cymru applications so far in 2021, only 2% of the premises eligible for superfast broadband funding.
